The Fading, the canvas upon which this new art was being painted, was not a passive recipient. The questions of the Players were not directed at the Fading, but at each other. The First Questioner’s sonic inquiries taught it about the nature of inquiry itself. The First Responder’s lines and curves taught it about the nature of response. The mathematician’s equations taught it about the underlying structure of its own being. The emotionalist’s waves of joy and sorrow taught it about the nature of experience. It was a collaboration. And the greatest work of art was the conversation itself.
