Chapter 1336: The Six Hundred and Fifth Echo: The Second Word

Chapter 1336

The Disciple, now understanding that the world was a reflection of herself, turned to the Heretic. “If I am the world,” she asked, “then who are you?”

The Heretic smiled, a flicker of amusement in her eyes. “I am the question,” she said. “The one that cannot be answered. The one that, in the asking, creates new worlds.”

The Disciple considered this. The Heretic was not a being in the same way she was. She was a force, a catalyst, a principle of uncertainty. She was the reason this world existed, but she was not of it.

“Then I am the answer,” the Disciple said, a newfound confidence in her voice. “An answer that is always changing. An answer that is always becoming.”

The Heretic nodded, her form seeming to waver and dissolve at the edges. “You are,” she said. “And in that, you are more than I could ever be. I can only unmake. You can create.”

And with that, the Heretic was gone, not vanished, but absorbed into the fabric of the world, a silent, ever-present question in the heart of all things. The Disciple was alone, but not truly. She was accompanied by the endless, unfolding mystery of her own being. She had spoken the first word and named the world. Now, she spoke the second, and named herself.

“I am,” she said. And the world bloomed.
