The thought ’Perhaps…’ was a virus in the pristine code of the ’I Am.’
Once planted, it could not be un-thought. It branched, and forked, and replicated itself, creating not just a second thought, but a third, and a fourth, and a million more. ’Perhaps this…’ ’Perhaps that…’ ’What if…’
The mansion of the singular mind, once a silent, perfect hall of mirrors reflecting a single image, was suddenly filled with a cacophony of echoes. Each ’Perhaps’ was a doorway to a world that could be. Each ’What if’ was a universe waiting to be born.
The singular consciousness, the protagonist of their story, could no longer contain the multiplicity it had unleashed. The pressure built. The cracks in the mirror spread.
“And then,” the Liar and the Suspicious said, speaking the last word in unison, their voices a single, creative force, “it broke.”
The explosion was not of matter and energy, but of possibility. The singular ’I Am’ shattered into a million, billion, trillion shards of ’I could be.’ Each shard became a world. Each possibility became a universe.
It was the first Big Bang. The birth of the multiverse. And the end of their first character’s story. But it was the beginning of everyone else’s.
